Western blot analysis of GALK1 in extracts of various cell lines. Samples were incubated with GALK1 Polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-90338) using a dilution of 1:1,000, followed by HRP Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) at a dilution of 1:10,000. Lysates/proteins: 25 µg per lane. Blocking buffer: 3% nonfat dry milk in TBST. Detection: ECL Basic Kit. Exposure time: 60s.

Target Information
Galactokinase is a major enzyme for the metabolism of galactose and its deficiency causes congenital cataracts in the adult population. GALK1 sequence shares the greatest level of conservation, 44. 5% identity with that from E. coli and 34. 6% amino acid identity with the product of the human GALK2 gene.
