Knockdown of GPIP137 was achieved by transfecting A549 cells with specific siRNA (Silencer® select Product # s8377, s8378). Immunofluorescence analysis was performed on A549 cells (untransfected, panel a-d), transfected with GPIP137 specific siRNA (panel i-l) or non-specific scrambled siRNA (panels e-h). GPIP137 regulates the transport and translation of mRNAs of proteins involved in synaptic plasticity in neurons and cell proliferation/migration in multiple cell types. It binds directly and selectively to MYC and CCND2 RNAs. In neuronal cells, GPIP137 binds to several mRNAs associated with RNA granules including BDNF, CAMK2A, CREB1, MAP2, NTRK2, mRNAs, GRIN1, and KPNB1 mRNAs.
