Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning in the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Then, individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production. HERC5 (E3 ISG15 - protein ligase HERC5) is a major E3 ligase for ISG15 conjugation. It acts a positive regulator of innate antiviral response in cells induced by interferon. HERC5 functions as a part of the ISGylation machinery that recognizes target protein in a broad and relatively non-specific manner. It catalyzes ISGylation of IRF3 - which results in sustained activation, it attenuates IRF3-PIN1 interaction - which antagonizes IFR3 ubiquitination and degradation, and boosts the antiviral repsonse. HERC5 is physically assocated with polyribosomes and broadly modifies newly synthesized proteins in a cotranslational manner.
