Expression of IBA1/AIF1 in rat brain - Immunohistochemical staining of rat free floating frozen brain sections using Anti-IBA1/AIF1 Antibody (#ACS-010). A. In hippocampal CA1 region, IBA1 immunoreactivity (red) is observed in microglia. B. In hippocampal dentate gyrus region IBA1 staining (red) also appears in microglia. Nuclei are stained using DAPI as the counterstain (blue).

Reconstitution: 25 µL, 50 µL or 0.2 mL double distilled water (DDW), depending on the sample size. The antibody ships as a lyophilized powder at room temperature. Upon arrival, it should be stored at -20C. The reconstituted solution can be stored at 4C, protected from the light, for up to 1 week. For longer periods, small aliquots should be stored at -20C. Avoid multiple freezing and thawing. Centrifuge all antibody preparations before use (10000 X g 5 min).

AIF1 is induced by cytokines and interferon. It is thought to be involved in the negative regulation of growth of vascular smooth muscle cells, which contributes to the anti-inflammatory response to vessel wall trauma.
