Western blot was performed using Anti-PCSK9 Polyclonal Antibody (Product # PA5-47559) and a 60 and 74 kDa band corresponding to Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9, along with an uncharacterized band (*) was observed across positive cell lines (Hep G2 and HeLa) and tissue extract of Mouse liver; and not in negative cell lines (OVCAR3, SH-SY5Y, THP 1, BeWo and HL-60). PCSK9 is a proprotein convertase belonging to the proteinase K subfamily of the secretory subtilase family. This protein is synthesized as a soluble zymogen that undergoes autocatalytic intramolecular processing in the endoplasmic reticulum. The protein may function as a proprotein convertase. The protein plays a role in cholesterol homeostasis and may have a role in the differentiation of cortical neurons.
