For larger sizes, the number of freeze/thaws may be reduced by preparing aliquots, aliquots below 20 µL are not recommended. Please never store a kinase diluted. PDK4 (PDHK4), along with the other PDHKs, regulates glucose metabolism by phosphorylating the E1 alpha subunit of the mitochondrial pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. Inhibition of PDHKs is viewed as a potential therapeutic treatment for type II diabetes. This protein is located in the matrix of the mitrochondria and it's expression is regulated by glucocorticoids, retinoic acid and insulin. PDK4 inhibits the mitochondrial pyruvate dehydrogenase complex by phosphorylation of the E1 alpha subunit, thus contributing to the regulation of glucose metabolism.
