PEP-005 is a synthetic peptide whose sequence is from the C-terminal end of the mouse retinoic acid receptor beta (RAR*). The 21 amino acid sequence extends from amino acids 429 to 448 of RAR*. The sequence of PEP-005 is (amino to carboxy terminus): P S V S P S S V E N S G V S Q S P L L Q (The N-terminal cysteine has been added to facilitate conjugation and is not a part of the native mouse RAR* sequence)
This peptide may be used for neutralization and control experiments with the monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies that reacts with this product and the human and mouse RAR*, catalog # MA1-811 and PA1-811. Using a solution with equal weights per unit volume of peptide and corresponding antibody will yield a solution with a large molar excess of peptide that is able to competitively bind the antibody.
Reconstitute with 0.1 mL of distilled water.
Retinoic Acid (RA; active metabolite of vitamin A) plays a prominent role in regulating the transition of proliferating precursor cells (such as carcinoma cells and neuronal precursors) to postmitotic differentiated cells. The Retinoid X Receptors (RXRs) family (RXR alpha, beta, and gamma), preferentially bind 9-cis -RA and regulate gene transcription by forming heterodimers with a second family of RA receptors. RAs have been suggested to potentially play a therapeutic role in cervical cancer. RAs are known to play key roles in neuronal development and an increasing body of evidence indicates that retinoid signaling may regulate synaptic plasticity and associated learning and memory behaviors.
